COMIC RELIEF CHALLENGE
Staff versus students badminton contest
As part of International Women’s Week, the Apollo small school decided to support the “Women for Change” project in Africa. It was our aim to raise £30 to buy a goat to support a single mother and her children. The staff challenged the students to a doubles badminton tournament and that’s when things really got serious! The staff started training after school and only the best badminton players made it through to the contest. The whole competition was conducted in a very sportsmanlike manner, the Academy paparazzi interviewed spectators and competitors for the school radio station and in spite of their misleading physiques the staff emerged victorious.
Not to be out done, staff and students raised money through a variety of other activities including sponsored dressing up, silences (my particular favourite!) and eating crackers. Apollo 16 raised £60 from a chocolate hamper raffle, Apollo 7 raised £50 with their Spell-a-thon and Apollo 2 raised over £90.
Thanks to everyone for a wonderful day. Mrs Trusler, Principal
